Thistle: Separated-Separados
Graphic design for a prickly situation. Supporting the children of the border between the US and Mexico.
Laura Coombs and I worked on this poster published in Separated-Separados in protest of increasing border tension and child detention along the US and Mexico border. The Texas thistle does not know arbitrary boundaries and extends its rhizomatic root structure in a web of resilience. It is also thorned with needles that tear and protect. Even with the reputation as an intolerable weed, the vibrant purple flower and cotton fluff attract children from all cultures.
